Do you enjoy spotting birds, insects, trees and plants on your visits to the Ponds? Please help us document the biodiversity of these wetlands and woodlands by recording your observations - it'll strengthen the case against development! See below for two ways you can contribute to our citizen science project:
If you can, please use iNaturalist - a really fun app that also feeds into the national biodiversity database used by planners etc. Some of you might be familiar with it already. We've just set up a project for the ponds - please join!
Best thing about iNaturalist is that, if you upload a photo, it helps with identification. You can also add past observations. It will automatically pick up the time stamp on your photo. Please remember to mark the precise location of your observation. In the app, you can search for 'Western Harbour View' (the nearest street) and it will display the area. Zoom in as close as you can so that the circle accurately pinpoints the precise spot.
Alternatively and additionally, please add your observations to our online species record document (a Google Doc). You can use the links at the top of the doc to jump to the right group of organisms (ie plants, insects). You are welcome to add historic observations too - dates can be approximate (eg month/season).
